PKO BP BANKOWY Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne S.A

The Company (or PTE) is the manager of PKO BP Bankowy Otwarty Fundusz Emerytalny (OFE or an open pension fund). Open pension funds form part of the mandatory pension system, in which they constitute the second pillar. Fund membership rules here have a statutory basis. The relevant provisions state that every person in employment outside of the agricultural sector and born after the date of 31 December 1968 is required to execute an agreement with one of the open pension funds involved in management of a certain part of the insured persons' social insurance contributions towards their pension insurance.

PKO BP Bankowy OFE is presently one of the best managed among the 14 pension funds operating in the Polish market. The company was established in the year 1998 by PKO Bank Polski together with Bank Handlowy w Warszawie. Since 2003 PTE has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of PKO Bank Polski.

As one of very few of its kind in the market, the Company has been a holder (since 2004) of a quality assurance certificate in management of open pension fund assets.

In combination with its outstanding investment performance, PKO BP Bankowy OFE's strong association with the PKO Bank Polski brand and its utilisation of the Bank's distribution channels have contributed to substantial growth in the course of 2010 in the number of customers who have committed their funds to PKO BP Bankowy OFE's stewardship. As a result, total assets under management now exceed PLN 6.5 billion.

  • As at the end of the year, net assets under management of PKO BP Bankowy OFE amounted to PLN 6.57 billion, growth of PLN 1.66 billion or 33.8 per cent. compared to the valuation as at the end of 2009.
  • Return on a three-year investment in PKO BP Bankowy OFE (calculated as at 31 December 2010) stands at 10.21 per cent. giving the fund manager the second position in the pension funds market.
  • Total number of PKO BP Bankowy OFE members stands at 468,322.

2009

  • As at the end of the year, net assets under management of PKO BP Bankowy OFE amounted to PLN 4.91 billion, growth of PLN 0.88 billion or 21.9 per cent. compared to the valuation as at the end of 2008.
  • PKO BP Bankowy OFE delivered annual yield of 14.75 per cent. ranking third in the pension funds market.
  • Total number of PKO BP Bankowy OFE members reached 417,840.
  • Its net asset value or shareholders' equity at the end of the year amounted to PLN 225.5 million.
  • Its net profit for the year reached PLN 23.6 million.

Strategy

PTE's mission aims at delivering satisfying results to all members of the PKO BP Bankowy OFE fund it manages and at continual improvement of its customer service. With these purposes in mind, PTE continues to upgrade its investment process as concerns risk management, investment efficiency and optimised allocation of the available funds.

Significant events and achievements

2010

  • Outstanding investment performance and above-average net asset value growth of the funds under management: positive net transfer balances and appreciation of the settlement unit.
  • Among the top five OFE funds, according to the official ranking of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority: best in terms of three-year yields (calculated as at 30 September 2010). First place in the Satisfaction Ranking published by Business Magazine Manager (publication: Raport OFE, October 2010)
  • The "Jutro to dziś, tyle że jutro" image campaign (lit.: Tomorrow is today, only tomorrow.) conducted in the autumn season in the press, the outdoor advertising media and the Internet in collaboration with Sławomir Mrożek, eminent playwright, who granted PKO BP Bankowy OFE copyrights to his dictum.
