Safer euro payments
01.09.2026
From September 2026, we will introduce the Verification of Payee (VoP) service for incoming euro payments, including SEPA Credit Transfers and SEPA Instant Credit Transfers.
As part of this service, we will compare the payee name provided in a VoP request with the account holder name held on our records.
- If the details match, we will inform the payer's bank that the payee name is a match.
- If the details do not match, we will inform the payer's bank that the payee name is not a match.
- If there are minor differences, for example in punctuation, word order or legal entity identifiers (such as sp. z o.o., GmbH or s.r.o.), we will inform the payer's bank of a close match and provide the full account holder name.
The payer remains responsible for deciding whether to proceed with the payment.
Why are we making this change?
Verification of Payee helps make payments more secure and reduces the risk of receiving funds intended for another recipient.
Legal basisThis change is being introduced in line with European Union requirements relating to instant euro payments.
