Kosztowne ożywienie
Ograniczenia podażowe i wzrost kosztów tłumią odbudowę aktywności, a jednocześnie narasta inflacyjna fala.
It’s normalisation time
The MPC surprised the market and decided to raise NBP rates, forcing us to update our interest rate prediction...
We have a hike, at last!
The MPC surprised the market today and decided to increase interest rates. The reference rate rose by 40bp, to 0.50%. As the MPC decision surprised the market in its timing (the first hike was expected in November at the earliest) and its size (40bp vs 15bs), the market reaction was strong (EURPLN at 4.55). Although a 40bp hike does not significantly change our (high) inflation forecast, the hike reduces the risk of deepening capital disallocation, overheating housing market and de-anchoring of inflation expectations.
Red-hot housing market, red-hot CPI inflation
CPI inflation increased to 5.8% y/y in September from 5.5% in August acc. to the flash estimate. It is on the way to pass 6% threshold as early as in October, given the current price trends. Strong upward trend in home prices continues. We expect it might slightly moderate in 2022.

Makro Flash: Nihil novi w polityce pieniężnej
